In the first book we all know Brakentail was kinda a bully. But he's really just misunderstood. I mean, he was mean to Star and gave away info because he was trying to protect Morningleaf. And in Landfall (btw if you haven't read Landfall yet don't read this because it's a little bit of a spoiler) we learn that he gave information, but Rockwing was forcing it out of him a little. We all know he was protected and Echofrost was beat up and Brakentail tried to help her by bargaining with Rockwing! Even though it didn't work, it's the thought that counts. And he eventually accepts Star and swears to protect him. So he's really misunderstood. Even though he did a lot of bad things in the past, he was just trying to help. He also repents in the end. So he is very misunderstood, very very misunderstood.

im personally not a huge fan of brakentail. i think hes a sweetheart and hes definetly redeemed himself. i personally just find his character a little bland. The book is great with him because its shows brackentails ability to be loyal and the other characters abilities to show compassion. he also really helps develope Star’s character. I just feel like hes kindof just there. i dont know him very well. he doesnt have a huge personality like Morningleaf or Shadepebble. idk. im conflicted. hes definetly not one of my favorites but i dont hate him. i guess my feeling for him is nutral.
Brackentail was one of my favorites, even when he was a bully. We all do things we regret, but his intentions were good.
Can't comment much, but had to say that YES I completely agree!
Brackentail is one of my favorite characters and I always get sad when people say that they don't like him just because of the things he did when he wasn't even a yearling yet. He, by far, is the most misunderstood character besides Frostfire and Nightwing.
Brackentail gets way too much hate. Yes, he did a lot of bad things, but he thought he was doing the right thing. Because we only see things through Star's perspective, it can be hard to effectively judge what someone does when it might not fully support him. (yikes I sound like I'm writing something for english class) Brackentail truly thought he was doing the right thing in Starfire, for some of the things anyway. His bullying can't be excused, and neither can him trying to kill/hurt STar in the canyon race. But he was also only a weanling, and I'm pretty sure that's the pegasus age of kids doing stupid things XD I would love to read maybe a short story from Brackentail's perspective that took place during the books, maybe Starfire or STormbound. He's such a complex character.
