Curlyvine's heart squeezed. Her passed mate, Kindheart, had been killed. He had tried to escape, and had been executed. Curlyroot had tried to stop them. They had threatened to kill her too, but they couldn't afford that because she was their medicine mare. So instead, they broke Brightwolf's golden wings.

Then, when Curlyroot was asleep, Brightwolf had left. Somehow, he had escaped. Or had been killed, Curlyroot didn't know. She had been left to wonder all these years.

Brightwolf's wings had been broken, causing him to never fly properly again. His mother had fed him a moon's worth of looking for herbs, which had helped his wings. When Brightwolf has escaped, his wings were still hurting. When he was around 2, he started flying again. His wings are still weak, and he can't be in the air for long, but he pushes himself, and believes in himself.

He is a muscular palomino stallion, with some ribs showing, with a wide white blaze, white stockings, and a white splotch on his left flank, left shoulder, and right hind leg. His feathers are rich yellow at the mantel (tipped with scarlet red) that fade to emerald green, and his flight feathers are sky blue/baby blue that fade to sapphire. Kind of a different version of the picture above. His eyes are kind shimmering blue, and his muzzle is pink and white. His tail is short with a curl in it, and his mane reaches his shoulders (it's thin, not thick), his forelock usually blown over his eyes.

The plot of this role play reminds me of a book I read a while ago called Sunwing. It is the sequel to Silverwing, and is about bats. Here is an excerpt from the book’s summary:

“Shade, a young Silverwing bat in search of his father, discovers a mysterious Human building containing a vast forest. Home to thousands of bats, the indoor forest is as warm as a summer night and teeming with insects to eat. And through the glass roof, the bats can finally see the sun, free from the tyranny of the deadly owls.
