I have been really into this Indigo Girls song called Dead Man’s Hill lately:
Amy, the brunette, wrote this song about an experience she had as a young child, seeing high school boys burning cats alive. In interviews she describes it was her first experience with true evil. Now, I am asking you, what are your OC’s first experiences of evil and how has it effected their growth?
Skysun (Interior RP): Hmmm...probably Nightwing stealing her Herd and killing her father in the process. THIS made her want to fight the evil she saw, and escaped Wind Herd, ALTHOUGH it DID cost her her sister in the process. All of this made her a stronger mare in the long run, and made it so that she wouldn't back down from something she KNEW was cruel!
Anara (Selene): Probably either seeing how The Clone Wars devastated people, or Order 66. This made her a more determined and fierce force for good.
Flamefeather: (this is my THIRD time trying to write this. The page kept refreshing on me!!! ughhh XD) Either sometime before the RP started and Cinderwing was in a bad mood, or when Cinderwing broke Clearfire' wings.
Darkbreeze: She has unfortuntely experienced evil so many times, poor baby :'( Her mother is Riversun, so the first was probably watching how her mother treated the captured foals, but she has seen it many times since then.
For Kevty it was when her clan betrayed her and ehr family, killed her parents and tried to kill her too.
For Reba, it was seeing a jackal toy with and torture a mouse before eating it. This has made her abhor unnecessary cruelty.
For Kilroy, it was hearing his parents lie to each other every morning about having slept well when he knew that both of them had left without the other’s knowledge. It contributes to his chronic distrust, especially regarding his father.
For Peacebringer, it was seeing a young man exiled for loving the wrong person. It gives her a soft spot for lovers and makes her feel nostalgic for her past.
Dusk:
For Dusk it was when he learned that Sunwing (the overstallion) wanted him dead. Although the prophesy said that he would be the healer, Sunwing didn't want to take any chances. He couldn't understand how someone could be that cruel. It's probably made it harder for him to trust anyone in the long-run. He thought Sunwing liked him this whole time yet it turns out he wanted him dead.
Lilyhoof:
For her it wasn't really an evil, but it felt like an evil. When the virus swept over Silverherd it took out her parents and some of her friends. Everyone thought she either had the virus or was a carrier for the virus so they chased her out of camp and forced her into isolation for over two moons. It felt like she had been abandoned and definitely affected how she communicated with others and who she let in and not.
Aquafeather:
Probably for her it was when Twistwing refused to get help for Snow Herd when they had the Blue Tongue Plague. She saw all the pegasi dying because of it, and yet Twistwing was too proud to ask for help. When Aquafeather lead Freedom Herd, she tried to do what was best for the herd, and didn’t let pride get in the way.
Ariadne (Nova):
For her, it was probably Order 66. She hadn’t really experienced evil until then, and she was horrified that Anakin would kill the padawans, even though they did nothing to hurt him. This made her fight harder to get rid of the Sith...until she didn’t.
Larkflight:
When her parents were killed by Silver Herd, even though they had shown no aggression. This gave her a prejudice against Silver Herd pegasi, and she is especially wary of them.
