"Hey, Star," Morningleaf whispered. "Wake up." "Huh?" Star got to his hooves. It was still dark, despite the earlier visit from Lightfeather. "What?" Star asked. Morningleaf wrapped her wings around her belly. Tears of pain were streaming down her eyes. "My water broke," she whispered. Words and understanding slammed Star, making him swerve. "Here, follow me!" He whispersd and galloped at a slow pace towards Sweetroot. He was feeling a mix of anxiety and excitement. "Sweetroot!" Morningleaf wheezed when they arrived at the elderly mare's healing cave. Sweetroot didn't need an explanation. "Come here. Star, it's best you stay outside the cave." Sweetroot said. Star tilted his head in confusion. "Best you wait so the surprize can occur to be more appealing," Sweetroot informed. although these were words Star couldn't be bothered to decode, he nodded and stepped outside. After a few hours of pain, Sweetroot called out. "Star, come here." Whatever the problem was, Sweetroot sounded calm about it. Relief slammed Star when he saw her expression. Happy. Very, very happy. Beaming. "Star, come meet your new filly." Sweetroot led Star into another room in the cave, and he saw a beautiful sight. He saw Morningleaf, her aqua wings craddling a foal. It was pure black except for a white star on her forehead. She had vibrant gold feathers dipped in black. Her mane and tail were vibrant gold. She was yawning and sneezing. "I..." Star tried to utter words, but none made sense to him now. At that moment, only one word appealed to him: perfect. "So," Morningleaf asked. "What are we gonna name her?" She smiled. Star thought about this for a moment. "Starsong," he said. "Because she's the star of our life and her life is an endless melody of happiness for us." He decided. Morningleaf nodded. "Mythicmare," Morningleaf said. Star tilted his head. "Starsong, filly of Star and Morningleaf, and Mythicmare of Anok, we welcome you to United Herd." Star gasped. "How did you know-?" "Oh please, like it wasn't on,y YOU who saw Lightfeather at midnight. I saw her too. And I heard her message." Morningleaf said. Star's mouth hang open. "Our filly has the Starfire. But it will awake Riversun when she recieves it. And a scaly flying reptile that breathes fire will come to her aid whenever she needs it." Morningleaf informed, showing off what she knew. "Do you know what they are?" Star asked. It was safe to talk about this now, since Sweetroot had left the room to sleep. "Yes," Morningleaf said. "I know what the flying, fire breathing scaly reptiles are." She took a deep breath, and spoke, "Dragons."
Meanwhile...
"Secretkey! Wake up!" A scaly claw reached out and nudged an amethyst coloured dragon with golden scales mixed with the amethyst ones. "Huh? Gladeguard, what is it?" Secretkey asked. She flicked her iceocle, the triangular group of scales at the end of a dragon's tail. "Don't you see? WE ARE AWAKE!!" Secretkey's white scaled brother roared and chased his tail for the fun of it. "Awake... but, what about the prophecy?" Secretkey asked. "Oh, who cares? WE CAN MOVE!!" Gladeguard flapped his wings and dove. Secretkey looked around. They were in a cave on top of a huge waterfall. "This must be where we fell asleep," Secretkey said. "Hey," a familiar voice rang out. "I haven't heard your voices in a while!" A red scaled dragon stepped into view. "Skyflame!" Secretkey dashed to her sister. "We're awake! That must mean..." Skyflame started. "It must mean that a special pega... peaga.... pegas... oh! I can NEVER pronounce them!" Secretkey huffed, blowing a smoke ring ring her nose in frustration. "Pegasus," Skyflame said. "It must mean a special pegasus has been born." Skyflame finished. "Hey," Gladeguard finally stopped doing barrell rolls across the sky and listened. "Does that mean whenever she calls for us, we have to help her?" Gladeguard asked. Secrekey shrugged. "I guess so. But I look forward to it. I've never seen a pegasus before!" She said. "Well, I don't look forward to it," another voice rang out. All three scalers (the dragon way of saying yearling) groaned at the same moment. "Who would wanna waste their time helping a lower life form when they can make inferiors bow down to us?" A coal black dragon stepped out of the shade. "We never asked for your opinion, Shadowscale." Secretkey blew smoke out of her nostrils. "Oh, please, when will you grow up? Not everyone will submit willingly," Gladeguard snorted. "Which is why we kill the ones who don't," Shadowscale laughed. "Shadowscale, shut up. You know the prohecies," another dragon stepped into view. "The dragons are only awoken when a pegasus with a special destiny is born." He said. He was pale blue mixed with pure white. "Who are you? We don't remember you," Gladeguard remarked. "I am Whispermist. I am the dragon who guides all of you scalers on your journey. You must follow the prophecies to fulfill your destiny," Whispermist said. Shadowscale snorted. "And what happens if we don't?" He asked. "Well then," Whispermist said, fluttering his wings. "Let me just say this: My face will be the last thing you see and your screams will be the last thing you hear." Then he lifted off.
