Barbara smiled as she placed the treats in a little bag, and handed them to the girl. "Have a good day!" she said, then turned her attention to the next customer.
A nurse came in and started murmuring to her mother about Brianna's conditions. Luckily, none of the cuts had been too deep, other than the scar lasting one on her head. But even that one wasn't too deep. She could go home in a couple of hours with with healing wounds and after lots of rest. She waited in the room, talking with her mother about everything except what had happened in the woods. Fiona brought the subject up several times, but Brianna always changed the subject or just clamped her mouth shut.
Sam was sitting tin the passenger seat of his mom's car on the way back from lunch, when he's phone chimed. He looked over and saw it was a text from Tyler, who he knew because they were in the same CAP squadron. The text read, 'Figured you'd want to know Brianna seems to be OK.'
Startled, Sam texted back, 'What? Did something happen?'
Tyler replied, 'Brianna got mauled by something [they think it was a bear], she was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, and I'm waiting in the ER with Ria and a deputy for news.'
Sam's heart pounded, he had known that Brianna, Ria, Maddie, and Gabby were going out to ice cream to catch up with their old friend. But how had a trip to the ice cream parlor ended up with Brianna going to the ER because of a bear attack. And also, what had happened to Maddie and Gabby? Quickly, Sam texted, 'What happened to the Geron girls? I know they were with Brianna and Ria earlier.'
'Umm... I think they might still be at my grandma's bakery.' replied Tyler.
Sam texted a thanks to Tyler, then asked his mom to drop him off at 'Grandma Scott's Bakery'. By the time he arrived, Maddie and Gabby were just walking out of the shop. Sam jumped out of the car, and raced up to the girls. "I heard Brianna got attacked by something in the woods. Are you to alright?" he said, glancing at Gabby.)
She looked at Gabby and the two girls ran outside just in time to see the Ambulance pulling away. She started to panic. 'What happened?!! Where is Ria? Where's Brianna? What went on here? Should we call Mom? Of course we should, but what about Eli?! Why-" she was interrupted by her sisters calming hand on her shoulder.
Gabby: "Calm down, Mads. I'll call Mom and ask her to take us to the hospital. Eli doesn't even notice were gone. We'll see him later." she said, pulling out her phone.
Maddie:
She breathed heavily as Gabby talked with their mother.
Gabby:
A frown overcame her face as she listened to her mother's words. "Alright, Mom....We're coming." she said, hanging up the phone. "Mom says that Brianna needs to rest if she was sent to the hospital. We will pray and hope that she's alright, but Mother wants us to come home..." she said, waving goodbye to Mr. and Mrs. Scott.
Maddie:
She gasped and shook her head vigorously. "We can't just go home!! Brianna needs us!! I wanna find out whatever happened in the woods! C'mon!" she started to run, but Gabby grabbed her arm. "No. Brianna got hurt by whatever was in there. I don't want two of my best friends getting hurt in one day. Let's go home. We'll see Ria and Brianna later, okay?" she said, stroking her younger sister's auburn colored hair out of her eyes.
Maddie:
She looked up at her very mature sister and sighed, fighting back pointless tears. "O-okay, Gabby. We can go h-home." she stammered, hoping her BFF was okay and the sisters walked back home in silence, holding hands.
She twitched in her seat with anticipation. She should get to see her sister. She was family. Reluctantly Brianna's wounds didn't seem to deep, but the one in her head was pooling with blood, She twitched and waited, twitched and waited until someone would come to get them.
Brianna:
Almost everything blacked out. She fought as hard as she could from sleep, because she was sure she had a conussion, which could lead to dying in her sleep. (I jsut realized the concussion part is just like Bumblewind ;() She was hooked up to a thing that had much information on her heart, body tempature, and many other things she didn't know what they were. She wheezed and wanted to itch at her head, but decided not to. Her throat was dry and felt hollow more than ever. She felt each bad thing in the breath she breathed, and wisions of terrible things went flying through her mind.
Barbara smiled, "Oh that's Tyler for ya." she said, "He had good intentions, but doesn't really know what to do a lot of the time. What did he tell you dear?"
Deputy Frye (Sparrowfire)-
Deputy Frye parked his patrol car and headed into the Hospital, and took a seat next to Tyler, who had just texted his grandfather that he was waiting for the doctors to finish up with Brianna.
Celeste stared on as the girl got brought away crying. Celeste had seen it all happen.
The bear had come out of nowhere and attacked the girl. Celeste had wanted to help, but had stood frozen to the spot. Bear scared her more than anyone would ever know...
Stephen followed the officer and waited patiently. When he was turned back to him, Stephen said, "I do want to clarify that I don't know exactly what happened. I retraced her steps and deduced what I could from the tracks. Do you mind walking with me as I talk and explain them?"
"Not at all," the officer replied. "Go ahead."
Stephen re-retraced Brianna's steps, starting from the mossy log. "Here you can see Brianna's footprints, running or jogging smoothly," he said, pointing at the ground. "This continues until that large bush up ahead. Then we see a large animal track- two of them- behind the bush, and there are signs of a scuffle in the way Brianna must have stopped and tried to fight it off."
The officer looked and whistled when he saw the size of the tracks.
Stephen nodded at the surprise on Officer Frye's face. "The bear, I assume you can tell it was a bear at this point, clearly did some damage. When Brianna sets off jogging again, it's slower and she isn't running in an orderly, straight line. Then she collapsed by the pond." Stephen glanced questioningly at the officer, hoping what he had said made sense. He was experienced in tracking, since he was a Life scout in Boy Scouts. He didn't know if the officer was as knowledgeable as he was in this subject area.
Deputy Frye sighed with exasperation when Ria ran off, and a moment later was joined by a woman whom he recognized as the twins mother, then they both started climbing into the ambulance. "I'm sorry." said the Deputy, to the Air Force Chief, "I'll be right back."
He headed over to the ambulance, and poked his head in side, "Excuse me." Frye started, "I'm going to have to ask Ria to get out. There isn't a lot of room back here, and the paramedics need to do their thing. But I can drive you to the hospital once I'm done here if you want." the deputy looked at the twins mother and waited for a answer.
She was scared on the inside. Terrified, if you will, for her sister. She took the time she had from the officer to run to the paramedic and look through the window at Brianna, who was nearly passed out with all the noise. Ria wanted to come in very badly, but wasn't sure if she was allowed.
Fiona:
Fiona rushed to the woods on foot and into the clearing where all the commotion was happening. She saw her daughter, Ria, standing on the back of the paramedic to look inside at Brianna. Fiona ran to her daughter, hugged her tight, and opened the door to be with her other daughter, Brianna, also allowing Ria to join her.
Stephen Fierra was distracted by the sirens outside the bakery. "Henry, can you bring the box home and tell Olyssia that I'm back? I want to see what happened here." Henry nodded, disappointed that his reunion was being cut short, but knowing that he couldn't change his father's mind.
Henry rushed home with the pastries and delivered the good news to his mother. She was delighted and he stayed in the apartment to talk with her more.
Stephen hurried into the woods and tried to see what had happened, but paramedics were everywhere. He was able to get around enough of them to see a pale-faced Brianna on the stretcher, with cuts and scrapes all over. He went further into the woods and saw the small pond. He retraced Brianna's steps from there. Eventually, he saw what he had been looking for. Two large paw prints, almost 7 inches long each, were clear in the damp soil behind a bush. The bear had stepped out from the bush and done something to Brianna, given that her footprints had veered wildly and got more erratic. She seemed to have stood, facing the bear, for several moments before running toward the pond. Stephen could clearly see that the bear had done something harmful now, because Brianna's footprints didn't go in as straight a line as they had before encountering the bear.
"I know what happened, sir," he said to the police deputy in the clearing after he ran back and caught his breath.
Her throat tightened and the air seemed thicker. "I'm not sure..." she mumbled, looking straight at him. Ria rolled her eyes. Brianna sighed and closed her eyes. "It was big and had sharp claws, or talons, or something sharp, and deep brown fur. I think it was a wolf, but it was too big," she coughed.
Tyler caught up yet again, just as Ria started washing Brianna's cuts. "Stop!" he said franticly, "That water might not be clean!" Tyler quickly pulled out his phone and started dialing 911, and he explained to the operator what was going on, a few moments later he pulled the phone away form his face, and put it on speaker so he would miss any instructions the operator might have for them. "Okay, the paramedics will be here soon."
He stepped closer and knelt down next to Brianna, realizing that even though she was covered in scratches, she still looked beautiful.
She kept running until she burst int a clearing where a lake was. There lie Brianna in the grass, not moving. Ria ran so quickly she wasn't sure she wasn't flying. She dropped to her knees beside Brianna, hands shaking. She inspected the damage and sighed when she found there wasn't much. There was much blood, but it was coming from cuts in her wrists, hands, ankles, and legs. Or.. Were they scratches? Ria couldn't tell but saw one last scratch above Brianna's left eye lid. It was dangerously close to her eye and in the shape of an x. Ria looked around and saw nothing that could bandage the wounds, but found water from the lake. She scooped up some with her hands and began cleaning the wounds out. )
Brianna:
The images were black, but she could hear her sisters voice, feel her shaky hands, and could feel an odd wetness. Her eyes slowly opened. A groan escaped her throat and she touched the back of her head where she fell. Ria gasped and pushed Brianna down. "Don't move! You could have a concussion," she hissed. Ria glanced back at Tyler who had followed her. Brianna looked at her hands and shivered.
Barbara took the five dollar bill that Henry had just placed on the counter, then placed it in the cash register, and pulled out the change and handed it to Stephen, "Have a good day." she said, smiling.
Tyler was alarmed when Brianna suddenly raced passed him, and disappeared into the woods, followed a second later by Ria. Concerned that something might be wrong, Tyler quickly followed he girls out, and caught up to Ria just as she called out her sisters name. "What's going on?" he panted.
After she had made eye contact with Tyler she turned back to the woods. The shadow was still there. Henry had been part of it, but the shadow was much bigger than she thought. Without thinking, she stood up, slid out of the seat, walked to the door, and took off toward the woods, running at top speed. Ria watched her intently. "Uh-oh," she murmured. "Have fun with the emergency," Ria rushed out the door the next second, the bell tingling like mad. She had quietly rose to her feet and swept to the door, but when the door slammed, everyone in the happy roomed jumped as she took off to the woods. "Briann!" she yelled. She scanned with her eyes. She saw bugs on a log, but no sign of Brianna. A sharp sting went up her spine.
She stopped clapping for a breif moment. "Yeah, of course! See you at school. Hope you -uh- deal with your emergency!" she said, waving goodbye, not excatly sure how to word her message. Then, she started clapping again and whistling and pumping her arms in the air like she was at n outside concert.
Henry, who had no idea he was the shadow Brianna had seen, stepped out of the cool shade of the woods and decided to go to the bakery. He had worked hard that practice and he thought he deserved it. He grinned internally at the realization that his mother would disagree with that assumption.
As he stepped in he heard the bell on the door tinkle behind him. He quickly saw that several of the girls from church were in the bakery, including Maddie and Brianna. At the display counter he saw a man with his back to Henry. The man was vaguely familiar, but what Henry noticed was his uniform. As his father his father had taught him, he showed his respect for the armed forces. Henry went up to the register and clapped the man gently on the shoulder. Simultaneously, he was saying, "Thank you for your service."
Stephen turned to him and smiled as he always did, then his face lit up and the smile became genuine. "Henry! Is that you?"
His son blinked and did a double take. "Dad?" To make sure, he read the name tag on the man's breast. Sure as day, it read FIERRA. "Dad!!" Before the word was completely out of his mouth, his arms were around his father. "You're home," he said, his voice muffled with emotion and by his father's hair.
She craned her neck to see over the siblings and into the woods. Her sister peered at her questioningly, but Brianna just shook her head and continued to watch the woods. The moment she tore her gaze away again to glance at Tyler, she stopped halfway so it looked like she was staring at him, but her eyes were fixated on the woods. Something with a big and tall shadow was moving around inside them. Her eyes narrowed and then when she turned her head back to look at the woods, it had frozen yet again.
Tyler almost jumped when the man accompanying Brianna and her friends spoke to him, "Uh, you'll have to ask my grandma." said Tyler, trying not to glance at Brianna, then turned his attention back to the girl in the door way (aka Celeste), "Well?" he asked her, "Is this you first time in here?"
She wasn't in the mood for sweets, but she bought a macadamia nut cookie, her favorites. She nibbled on the edges contentedly as Ria ate a slice of blueberry cake. Brianna sat down in the same booth she had when she first met Tyler. Ria stayed standing with the others as Brianna nibbled on the cookie, looking out the window at the woods. No mysterious objects in it today, she thought. Some days she'd see bizarre things out in the woods that she could never quite place her finger on. As she nibbled on the cookie, her eyes always shifted towards Tyler in one small moment, but then she had to tear her gaze away and watch the woods for what seemed would be a long time.
Stephen rolled his eyes at the girlsâ teasing, but decided to go along with it. âSorry Brianna, but I canât say no to cupcakes.â He stood up and gollowed the girls to the bakery.
Brianna glanced at Tyler and let out a sigh when he didn't come over to say hi. Or at least not yet... but it was very hard to predict what a person will do, so she lifted her head and smiled when she saw Maddie gobbling down a chocolate cupcake with pink frosting. She let out a laugh and Ria rolled her eyes, smiling.
Maddie: She pressed her hands against the glass that was holding the cupcakes in. "Gabby! Do you have money?" she asked, licking her lips, preparing for the flavorful cupcake she was about to order.
Gabby:
She chuckled and handed Maddie a 10 dollar bill.
Maddie: Her eyes lit up. "Thanks!" and rushed to the register and asked Mrs. Scott for the chocolate cupcake with the pink frosting and handed her the money
Ria had to drag Brianna in behind the other girls, Whitney following. Brianna stared at the floor and didn't pay attention at where she was going. She just walked with Ria, sometimes veering away, and sometimes bumping closer, until they were with Gabby and Maddie again.
Celeste: *is just kinda wandering Pegasus Valley while her mom is out looking for a job, notices the group of people at the ice cream shop and just kinda stares sadly on, because she doesn't have a group of friends she can hang out with, yet*
Ria turned her head around and gasped. "Stephen? Is that really you?" she asked. Brianna jumped over and hugged him so tightly she could've suffocated him. "Hooray! You're home for the first time in years!! Congrats!" she shouted, jumping back because Ria had pulled her off, but, as always, Brianna lost her balance and fell on a sharp rock that scraped her hand. "Dang it!" she hissed, inspecting the wound. Ria helped Brianna up.
"Darn it I'm bleeding," she whimpered to her sister.
"Oh come now Brianna. You'll be just fine. We'll get some ice on it," she said, walking over to the ice cream truck, asking the woman for a pack of ice, and then coming back with a small bag of ice for Brianna's hand.
Whitney shrugged. âItâs been good. Vacation was fun, but a month without you guys is so boring. I wish my mom didnât have to go out of town all the time. I even miss school, believe it or not. Iâm looking forward to going back tomorrow.â She caught Brianna looking at the bakery window, where Tyler had just looked away. She smirked. âBrianna, anything new with you? Something important you forgot to mention?â
Brianna strained to let go of Whitney. She had missed her so much. She sighed as she tugged at her shirt. "Yeah... We only match because these are our favorite fall or winter running outfits. I always run with my hair down," she snorted. She looked at the bakery in time to see Tyler's gaze flick away. She furrowed her brows in confusion and frustration, but then looekd away. Ria laughed. "I can't stand my hair getting in my face. But enough about us, hows it been going lately Whitney?" she asked excitedly as Brianna looked down at the grass and rocks that were hidden under neath the soft blanket of grasss.

Barbara Scott (Briarcloud)-
Barbara smiled as she placed the treats in a little bag, and handed them to the girl. "Have a good day!" she said, then turned her attention to the next customer.
Celeste thanked the woman (who's name tag read "Barbara Scott") and left the store
Celeste smiled politely, and told the woman she'd take a piece of brownie, a mini muffin, and a mini cupcake.

Before the word was completely out of his mouth, his arms were around his father. "You're home," he said, his voice muffled with emotion and by his father's hair.
(That's cool!!! I like both ideas!)
Maddie:
She could tell that something was taking Brianna's attention, but she knew better then to ask. She looked at Ria.
Brianna:
She craned her neck to see over the siblings and into the woods. Her sister peered at her questioningly, but Brianna just shook her head and continued to watch the woods. The moment she tore her gaze away again to glance at Tyler, she stopped halfway so it looked like she was staring at him, but her eyes were fixated on the woods. Something with a big and tall shadow was moving around inside them. Her eyes narrowed and then when she turned her head back to look at the woods, it had frozen yet again.
Tyler (Twigstrike)-
Tyler almost jumped when the man accompanying Brianna and her friends spoke to him, "Uh, you'll have to ask my grandma." said Tyler, trying not to glance at Brianna, then turned his attention back to the girl in the door way (aka Celeste), "Well?" he asked her, "Is this you first time in here?"
Maddie:
She looked up from her cupcake, her cheeks puffed out like a chipmunk that's holding nuts in it's cheeks. "Huh? What?" she asked, looking at everyone.
Gabby:
She smacked her sister upside the head. "Maddie! Be polite and chew with your mouth closed please!" she said, rolling her eyes at her immature sis.
Maddie:
She looked up at Gabby and grinned, revealing her chocolate smile.
Gabby: she gasped at her sister's joke "MADDIE!!!!" she said, laughing and punching her.
Maddie chuckled and swallowed her giant bite of cupcake.
Brianna:
(I'm pretty sure that there is some rule in the military agensced being deployed for more then a few months, but it doesn't really matter)
(Wispi, ur needed on the alternative ending rp)
Whitney snort-laughed. âOh, she only has her first crush. And he keeps staring at her like sheâs made of gold or something.â
(Shadowfire. Horizongoldâs (Henry) father returning from a two-year military deployment.)
We'll get some ice on it," she said, walking over to the ice cream truck, asking the woman for a pack of ice, and then coming back with a small bag of ice for Brianna's hand.
that's ok, i haven't been on since the day they went to the movie together.
all i really need to know is the day, and what has happened
can someone fill me in please?
Whitney shrugged. âItâs been good. Vacation was fun, but a month without you guys is so boring. I wish my mom didnât have to go out of town all the time. I even miss school, believe it or not. Iâm looking forward to going back tomorrow.â She caught Brianna looking at the bakery window, where Tyler had just looked away. She smirked. âBrianna, anything new with you? Something important you forgot to mention?â
( lol. )
