Ashriver and Springblaze quickly flew over to their sire, Sparkwing, to tell him about the upcoming storm. They quickly spotted him talking with his captains. The mares landed next to him and folded their wings, waiting for him to be finished. Once the over-stallion finished his meeting he turned to look at them. "What do you need?" he asked. "Father, this storm doesnt look safe." Ashriver said, pointing her wing towards the storm in the west. "I think we need to take cover," Springblaze added. Sparkwing nodded. "Dont worry. We have it under control already, my captains just left to tell the herd. We are taking cover in the mountains in the North." "But thats so far! We will never make it in a few hours." Ashriver cried. Her sire shook his head. "We will make it if we fly fast. They look farther away then they actually are." Springblaze looked at Ashriver, who shrugged. They both didnt belive their sire. The whole herd just couldnt make it before the storm hit. "I got to go meet my captains again," Sparkwing said, breaking the two mares' thoughts. They nodded and watched as their sire flew off. "Let's go find Windstorm and Moonwind," Ashriver said. Her sister nodded and they flew to where they last saw the stallions. The mares quickly spotted them. They were on the ground now, and talking with another pegasus. Ashriver quickly recognized the stallion. It was Darkstone, a gray pinto with dark red light blue tipped wings. The stallion had a huge crush on Springblaze, who also liked him. Ashriver was the only one who knew they both liked each other. But she assumed that they would become mates in at least two years. They were almost always together.
Springblaze's ears perked and she tensed when she noticed Darkstone. The mare started to pick up speed, leaving Ashriver behind. "Hey! Slow down!" she nickered. Springblaze stopped. "Oh! Sorry.." Ashriver whinnied softly and caught up. They landed by the stallions and nickered a hello. Darkstone quickly trotted over to Springblaze's side. Moonwind did the same to Ashriver, but laid his wing across her back and squeezed it slightly. "Any news about the storm?" Ashriver nodded. "Father says that we are going to fly to the mountains in the North for shelter." "The mountains? But they are so far! Why not just go into that huge grove of trees over to the East a bit?" Windstorm questioned. "Springblaze and I were wondering the same thing." Ashriver answered. "Yeah, but Sparkwing says that we will make it," Springblaze added. "We better get going then," Darkstone said. Ashriver nodded, but tensed up when she looked at the storm in the west. Moonwind felt her tense and whispered in her ear: "Dont worry.. i'll make sure you are safe." Ashriver nodded, but she still had the bad feeling in her gut. And she knew she wasnt the only one. The mare glanced at Springblaze, who slightly nodded. Something was wrong.
