Brackentail flew into the dark sky, searching for Petalcloud's and Nightwing's filly, Riversun. It had been a year since Star's and Nightwing's battle, so Riversun was a yearling. Brackentail believed she had the starfire, and that she could help him get Morningleaf, through Star. His plan was to give Star to Riversun and Riversun give Morningleaf to him. Brackentail believed this would work because Stormtail, Riversun's bodyguard, hated Star, and no doubt that Stormtail explained to Riversun that Star was bad. And if Riversun had the starfire, she would want to kill Star for killing her sire. Brackentail thought it was the perfect plan.

Finally, after searching all of Anok for Riversun's herd, Brackentail found them in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the old Mountain Herd territory. Brackentail quickly spotted Riversun who was speaking with the gigantic stalliom Stormtail. Brackentail was afraid that Riversun or Stormtail would kill him, and he didnt really know them, but he took his chances. He landed and walked up to Riversun, who was staring at him in confusion. "Riversun?" Brackentail asked with a bow of his head. "I have a proposal." Stormtail reared and slammed his hooves on the grass. "I know this colt!" he brayed. "He's a follower of Star." Riversun pinned her ears at Brackentail. "Who are you? What do you want?" she sneered. Brackentail noticed that silver sparks were crackling on her hide, just like Nightwing's did. "I am Brackentail. I was a follower of Star, but now I want something he has. Im planning on betraying him, and I need your help, and I will give you something you want if you will get me something i want." Riversun perked her ears. "And what will you give me? What is this you want?"

"I want Morningleaf. Star's future mate. If you help me get her, I will get you Star."

Stormtail perked his ears. And Riversun started to prance. "I want to get rid of Star! He killed my sire, so I shall kill him!" Riversun reared and galloped into the sky. Brackentail's eyes widened when he saw the yearling explode into silver flames. She brayed a battle cry, and shot a ball of starfire into the air, and once it got high enough it exploded like a firework. Quite the power for a yearling... Brackentail thought. Riversun soon calmed down and landed in front of Brackentail. "Lead me to him.. and once I kill him, I will get your mare." Brackentail was pleased. His plan was working... and soon, he would get Morningleaf.
