Morningleaf crashed into Star as she was running out of the woods. "Star!" she whinnied. "Morningleaf! There you are! Where did you go?!" Morningleaf breathed heavily. "You'll know in a second, just follow me I need to talk to you." Star nodded. Morningleaf led Star deep into the woods. "Its Brackentail. He's trying to win me over." Star gave Morningleaf a confused look. "What?" Morningleaf nodded and leaned into Star, who had his ears pinned. "What was he doing?" Morningleaf explained the whole thing to Star, starting with Brackentail leading her into the woods and ending with how she flew and ran away. The whole time Star kept his ears pinned and stomping the ground with his hoof. But by the end, Star was ready to explode. Morningleaf put her wing over Star's back and nuzzled him. "Dont worry, you're bigger, stronger. He doesnt stand a chance against you." Star sighed and nodded. "I just- I just want you to be safe."

"And I am... with you," Morningleaf replied. "It'll be okay." Star nodded again. "When should we tell the herd?" he asked. "About us becoming mates? I dont know.. maybe in a few more days." Star nodded. "Okay, lets head back. Its almost dark." Morningleaf followed Star out of the woods and into a meadow where the curled up togethe rand fell asleep.

But during Star and Morningleaf's talk, Brackentail was hiding and listenting. He already had another plan, and this one Star was included.
