Last commets form Part 34-
(unmigrated gang)
Whiteshadow-
After hearing a commotion from outside of the cave, Whiteshadow poked her head out just in time to see an arctic fox scampering away. She sighed, glad that they would be moving on soon because this wasn't the first animal who had gotten ambitiously close to the cave, and she knew it was only a matter of time before larger animals were doing the same.
Before Whiteshadow returned to her work, she shared a quick glance Darkstone, but imminently started to feel guilty. She was almost 4 moons pregnant, and still had yet to tell her mate they were going to have a foal. It wasn't like she didn't want to tell him, it was just that Whiteshadow knew he would have never allowed her to come out here, and she had promised herself that she would still carry out her duties as a medicine mare for as long as possible until the foal was born.
(group heading north)
Oceangold-
As Oceangold touched down in the clearing they had flown so long to get to, practical matters reasserted themselves. Normally she might wait to hear protocol in a new herd’s territory, to learn what they may find offensive and avoid it. But she was famished. An almost-two-moon flight was not an ideal activity for a pregnant mare, as she wasn’t getting nearly enough meaningful rest— and not enough food to even speak of. Her ribs were showing, and her abdomen had swollen slightly but noticeably, each enough to be seen through the winter coat she had started growing during the long flight. She bent her head toward the first clump of grass she saw, munching into it with a satisfied and exhausted sigh. The grass was nothing special— close to death in the cold— but to the exhausted mare, it was bliss. She ate at least six mouthfuls with no hesitation, then recalled Cloudroot‘s warnings about overeating. She forced herself to stop, instead looking around at the clearing’s inhabitants. Softly, she heard the thumps of her companions and the Night Herd steeds landing behind her.
“Now what?” she asked softly.
('mane' Glaicer Herd)
Magicpetal:
She watched her fly away until she couldn't see the mare any longer. "Ugh. Well, there goes family time."
Emberblaze:
He glanced at Magicpetal and frowned. "There won't be a family time until Darkstone and Dad get back." He said, shifting his weight as he thought about his father.
Brightwing was almost always on scouting trips or on patrol duty. The triplets never saw much of their father anymore- but at least he was safe, which puts their mind at ease.
Goldenstream:
She pinned her ears and slapped Emberblaze upside the head. "Way to go, Mr. Depressing for saying that comment, which totally makes us feel all better." She muttered, her tone of voice rolling in sarcasm. Magicpetal giggled as Emberblaze shut his mouth with an angry grunt. Goldenstream, satisfied turned back around to face Silverflame. "Gosh, they make me annoyed. They act like foals!" She said to Silverflame.
Just as Goldenstream finished her comment, a hurling mud-ball was chucked at Goldenstream and it splattered on her golden cheek. She whirled around to see Magicpetal, rolling on the ground with laughter and Emberblaze getting ready to throw another one. "Ohhhh, Emberblaze, it is so on!"
(I'm not sure how this'll work without Flamfrost and Wispi since they had several main characters and I just don't wanna steal their OC's or anything.
Nightmist, are you doing the 'One' idea? I think it's a really cool idea and adds some extra pop to the RP since we were thinking of making Morningleaf or one of Star's friends the "one" (Right?! Correct me if I'm wrong XD it's been a minute) )
Gingerblaze:
The young chestnut scanned the herd around her as the sounds of an aginizoning amount of coughing filled the air. She wanted to block it out. She wanted to run away. But she knew she couldn't. Oh if only her mother were here. Gingerblaze felt a pang in her heart at the thought of her dam. Despite her determination to keep Flame Herd separate - a decision that had ultimately cost Cherrycloud her life - she had been a very devoted lead mare and always seemed to know how to keep her herd safe. But now, everything seemed to keep going down hill. Hazelfire, the captian that Cherrycloud had left to guard over the herd, seemed way out of his league, and to make matters worse, he to had contracted desert cough a few days ago and really wasn't doing to well. It was starting to look as if this would be the end of Flame Herd for good.
(Can we not let this die again?! where did you guys goo????!!!)
Mintcreek:
She blinked at his comment, unprepared for his concern for her. "Oh! Well, I hate migrating in the first place. And I have a little medicine mare training, so I had too. Plus, I wanted to stay. Who else would keep you out of trouble?" She teased gently, flicking her forelock out of her eyes.
Coalblaze:
”You didn’t have to stay behind, you know. You could of migrated with everyone else. That is, unless, you’re staying here to take care of others other than me,” he said softly, concern sharpening his voice.
(Are we like bringing this RP back to life or something??)
Mintcreek:
She giggled sheepishly and felt her ears get hot, “Oh-ah..well, I’m here now,” she fumbled and stepped closer to him.
Coalblaze:
He lifted his nose gently with a smile, returning her breath. “Nothing but your presence,” he said softly.
(I'll just make Mintcreek stay behind since, if I remember correctly, she did have slight medicine mare experience-like only the basics or something. But, i do know that Coalblaze didn't migrate-he had injuries to his ribs right?)
Whiteshadow-
She watch him leave, and felt a sharp ping on her heart as she did so. It was so hard for her to lie to him.
Whiteshadow glanced around the den to look for something to do so she would appear busy when Darkstone returned, and she honed in on Twigstrike who was sleeping on the ground in the back of the den. The roan stallion was still in bad shape from the battle with Flame Herd even all these months later. He had sustained an almost crippling blow to his spine, and while he had made an increatable amount of progress since, he was one of the few of the injured pegasi that Whiteshadow was concerned wouldn't be able to make the trip south.
She trotted over to him, and nudged the sleeping stallion with her hoof to wake him up.
"Whaaaaat?" yawned Twigstrike, a moment later.
"I want to check your spine again." said Whiteshadow. The roan stallion nodded, and moved so his back was in a position that she could see the site of the injury. She ran the edge of her hoof along Twigstrike's back, occasionally gingerly applying pressure to the area. "Feel anything?"
"Nope." replied the stallion in a short voice -- an indication to Whiteshadow that he was withholding something.
She looked down at his face and saw it twisted in pain and she removed her hoof. "Nice try, but I know your lying. How badly does it hurt?"
Twigstrike let out a disappointed huff, "It's not that bad." he said, "But look!" The stallion stood, and began flexing his wings, "I can still do this!"
Whiteshadow looked on with worry, yes he could move his wings, but would he be able to last for the long journey south? That was still an unanswered question. She sighed, "Get some more rest, we'll try again later."
Just then, Darkstone returned with the plant hanging from his mouth, and Whiteshadow reluctantly made her way to the front to the cave to meet him. "Thank you." she said, taking the herb."
Is this RP still open to new members?)
(does anyone remember if Mintcreek migrated or not? The last I remember is she did migrate since she was healthy enough, but I can’t remember.)
Embermoon:
Embermoon grazed lightly on the dry grass. Winter was upon them, and even though the south was warmer than the north, the grass was still dry.
Coablaze:
Coalblaze stood flicking at flies, looking around for Mintcreek.
( YAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! :D )
(IKR?!?!?!?!?)
Whiteshadow-
She pulled away a little. "No, I'm fine." Whiteshadow assured him, desperately trying to make him believe her. You just have to make it a few more days, she told herself.
Whiteshadow glanced around her makeshift medicine mare cave searching for anything that would draw Darkstone's attention away from her. Finally, here eyes rested on her depleted store of a particular type of plant used to give pegasi energy -- a key ingredient in a concoction she was planning on giving the weaker members of the group to make sure they could make the long journey south. "Umm..." Whiteshadow started, "Would you mind going out and finding me some more of these?" she gestured towards the plant.
(@Riverbreeze's comment) Darkstone:
He spotted Horizongold and Skywing come back from their section of patrol to sleep under the burial tower. He nodded hello and goodnight to them, before turning and rushing into the medicine mare den. He quickly saw the beautiful speckled mare and Darkstone embraced her tightly when she wasn't busy. He'd noticed she's been slightly different recently, he didn't know what it was, but he figured she's just tired from all the hard work and long hours the mares have been doing. "Just a few more weeks." He whispered to her, "Before we can leave and go join the rest of our family."
His heart fluttered at the mention of his sister, nieces and nephew, and he grew more anxious about seeing them. But, for right now, he just enjoyed being close to Whiteshadow.
Whiteshadow-
Whiteshadow gazed into Darkstone's dark eyes and was lost for a moment in their depths. "I can't wait." she murmured, almost a little to earnestly and she prayed that the dark stallion didn't pick up on her tone. It broke Whiteshadow's heart to be this close to him, yet be keeping such a large secret form him -- the secret that she was carrying his foal. Whiteshadow longed to tell him, but she knew she need to wait until they safely back with the larger group of Glacier Herd.
Mistcloud-
Mistcloud let out a big sigh as she turned to leave the clearing. It was tiring work running such a large herd -- even if she had a council of steeds to work with. There were just so many moving parts to it.
She glanced over at Moonwing, hoping to find comfort, but his expression was cold and distant which was an expression he was wearing increasingly often. Mistcloud was starting to worry about him, he had always been a bit of a loaner, but she was usually able to connect with him, but now the only thing that seemed to bring him joy was playing with Pearlsong.
Mistcloud let out another sigh 'stop worrying' she told herself, 'you need to take one problem at a time'.
( Yup, you were, and if you re-read Riverbreeze’s comment, it doesn’t say Rainleaf. It says Rainfeather, an old member that decided she didn’t like us anymore. )
( No, I just think she thinks this site is toxic, which isn’t not true )
( I can contact her, but I don’t know if she’ll want to roleplay xd )
( And Yeah, I wanna revive it lol )
( Wait, this is centuries after Star? I thought it was, like, only 6 years xD )
(oof this has been dead... something needs to happen, but Wispi isn't here i don't think and we have the 'one' situation...)
(what's your plot line? I'd like to be involved! X) )
(I thought we could get into Fireslash's birth the next day, maybe, when Starsummer goes to get Dappleroot for the mission. Since Cloudroot is with the main body of the herd, at least right now, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Whiteshadow and Tumbleroot will be coming back from the north soon.)
(Were they? I thought they were leaving when the graveyard guard rotated, which won't be for another week or so.)
Shadowfire nodded his agreement with Mistcloud. "When we disband, I'll find Meadowstorm and confer with Blazebreeze. Mistcloud, I trust that you'll choose the four Glacier Herd steeds while I do so. Oh, Starsummer? If you can be the one to debrief Dappleroot, that would be appreciated. It can wait till morning, though," he added, catching her weary expression. "The group won't be leaving till tomorrow afternoon at the earliest." He nodded to himself and Mistcloud confirmed his statement. He cocked his ears curiously and looked around the circle of steeds. "Was there anything else? No?" He looked around for a few moments. "In that case, there is no need for us to continue talking. Council dismissed."
He turned and trotted slowly away, suddenly eager for the comfort of his sleeping patch.
(hello? can we revive this pretty please?)
The triplets arrived at the lake and splashed and played for an hour before they all got bored and waded out of the water. The shade felt good, so they circled up together and laid against one another. The triplets grew silent until the only sound was the lake and their own breathing. They were all thinking their own thoughts- Goldenstream was thinking about Silerflame and Starsummer, Magicpetal thought about Horizongold and the unborn foal, while Emberblaze remembered Redmoon and Brightwing.
Each thinking their own thoughts, but those thoughts all relating to one another in some way. The silence was broken by Magicpetal, who couldn't keep quiet for very long,
"When do you think Horiz -I mean- all the steeds in Glacier herd's territory will return?" She asked, taking the quiet time to preen her wet feathers. Goldentream turned to face her younger sister, "Magicpetal, we know how you feel towards Horizongold. No need to hide it. And I believe in a few moons." Goldenstream mumbled and Emberblaze nodded in agreement and nudged Magicpetal when she started to blush.
"There's not much you could hide from us, little sis. We shared a wound." The bay colt said, winking at his sisters. Magicpetal giggled,
"Yeah, I know. Thanks, Ember. Thanks, Golden. You two are the best older siblings ever!" She added, smiling from ear to ear. Goldenstream and Emberblaze both wrapped their wings around Magicpetal and the red roan nuzzled them.
(wow this died)
(I've run out of ideas to write!)
Mistcloud-
"That sounds fair." agreed Mistcloud in regards to Starsummer's comment about Whiteshadow, "It wouldn't be fair to send her out after being gone for so long. On the other wing, it would probably be a good thing to send Dappleroot since she has seemed kind of restless lately." The council mare noted that it hadn't been 'lately' since her friend had started feeling restless, she had been feeling this way since Blazefire had been killed. It was almost like a spark had gone out of the mare.
Starsummer:
She spoke up for the first time in a while, "I would say Whiteshadow, but it wouldn't exactly be fair to the mare. She's currently with the injured steeds back in Glacier herd's old territory and she's been working hard all winter. So, to send her on another big mission like this wouldn't exactly be fair to her. Also, she's pregnant. She's not very far along in her pregnancy, but nevertheless, she's pregnant and she should stay here, when the injured steeds get better, and rest with her family." She said, glancing around. "There's always Dappleroot." Starsummer added.
(Hey, Dragon.....does Starsummer and the triplets know that they have a new aunt and a soon-to-be cousin on the way? Because I don't think Darkstone and Whiteshadow told them....whoops lol)
Mistcloud-
The gray mare heard the elderly stallion grunt, but didn't respond to Shadowfire's comment, "Okay, so we need to discuss witch medicine mare should go, as well as which pegasi that are not orignaly from Flame Herd should go." Mistcloud said
"He would be loyal to us, yes," Shadowfire agreed. "But since this mission will involve dealing with Flame Herd members still loyal to Flame Herd, I do not think it would be wise to send him."
Jaggedwing-
"What about that stallion who tried to warn us about the battle with Flame Herd?" put in Jaggedwing, "Oh, what was his name..."
"I believe that it was Brokenflame." finished Briarcloud, "He has proved that he is not in agreement with Flame Herd, so he would be an ideal choice."
Jaggedwing nodded, "Though he may run into some issues with the others from Flame Herd."
(ugh this one was kinda stinky. I didn't really know what to put in there.)
Coraleaf-
A sudden flapping of wings startled her. She whipped around to see Oakwind standing there in front of her.
"What do you want, Oakwind?" Coraleaf tried to say harshly. But she couldn't. His eyes were filled with joy and peace. (i hate it when I feel a way i can't even put into words on this! URGH!)
Oakwind took a step closer, "Coraleaf, I want to be your friend. I want to take care of you, I won't push you away," the yearling paused and looked away, his eyes brimmed with tears, "I-I'm..."
Coraleaf rapped her wings around him, "Oakwind, I forgive you; I forgive you."
( gtg for the night, see y’all tomorrow maybe! )
( kk )
(Let's wait for Dragon.)
Shadowfire nodded. "I think we should bring a reasonable force, but not many of our warriors for the reason I've mentioned. Say fifteen or twenty, fit and rested. They should be able to take on an army of a hundred or so, given that the larger force is both exhausted and deprived of food. Plus, twenty steeds won't be a very big dent in our numbers if it comes to that."
Shadowfire hesitated for a second, gathering his thoughts. "A medicine mare or two should go with them. That much is obvious. But I think that group won't be very well received. It may well be viewed as a military party, and the members will clearly be foreign steeds. So I think we should send Blazebreeze, Emeraldflame, and Nightmoon with them. They were Flame Herd steeds, after all. They may know how to help."
Breezecloud had her reply ready as soon as Shadowfire stopped talking. "That may be true, but I don't think they'll be received much better. Desert Herd and its splitoffs are cutthroat, as we well know. When it comes to military, failure is failure. The mates wouldn't be greeted warmly either way, as their mission failed. But they'll get an even icier reception seeing as they decided to join us."
Shadowfire conceded the point. "That's true. But do any of you have better ideas?" He looked around the ring of council steeds, waiting for an answer.
( No, no, that makes more sense lol. How about we go with that, then? Or should we still wait for Dragon? I’m just SO. EXCITEEEEDDDD. :D )
( Maybe we should wait for Dragon to help decide which one we should go off of xD I completely forgot all of those almost death situations! Wow! )
( Awww, she’s so pretty! ;9 )
Canyongold:
She blushed, wondering how he knew she had slightly been jealous of his long lost friend. What a joke, to be jealous of your best friend’s deceased best friend. It almost seemed dishonorable. Canyongold felt these slivers of doubt like like tiny worms biting at her heart. Of course, there were no worms, but it sure felt like it. So she smiled and nodded to him, and looked back at the colt as he sprang to his legs at Stormglade’s order. She giggled at that, the panic her friend could inflict.
Redmoon:
Once the team had finished resting, for only around 30 minutes, they trotted into the forest. She wondered who The One could be, why they were in lead, and how they had come upon her father, and how he was still alive. She hoped these questions that were eating at her mind would be answered soon, for she had been waiting weeks for the journey that wouldlead them to the trap, to end.
Duskblade informed them of the dangers inside the forest and that they’d have to move quickly to make it to the center, where the pegasi had made the roots of their herd and predators were scarce. He said not to eat any plants that you find, and to touch nothing on purpose. So, Redmoon was slightly paranoid of the dangers, and moved as swiftly as she could beside her sister and her mother. Surprisingly, Breezebell had been the most silent of all throughout the entire journey. Redmoon guessed her twin had been brooding the fact that she had to leave Twigstrike early, and that she was worried for the colt.
No matter the reason for her sister’s bad mood, Redmoon continued to concentrate on her breathing and her thoughts to nothing. Literally, nothing. A complete void to keep her from thinking the dark thoughts that she might think once she found her father. Anxiousness was gnawing away at her. What if he wouldn’t make the journey back? What if they had to wait a few months? She couldn’t bear being away from Emberblaze for the long, no matter how much she did adore her father.
(Y'all probably didn't care, but here's what Shiverdaisy looked like, Just in case you were wondering-)
Stormglade:
He could feel her jealously and nuzzled her cheek. "Shiverdaisy told me to find that one real friend. The one I could always count on. The one who would never leave me as much as I pushed her away. Canyongold, you're that one real friend. And I am so thankful for you and for all you've taught me." He mumbled so that the colt couldn't hear. Stormglade glanced back to the colt and he chuckled and said, "What are you still doing here? Go to Coraleaf!"
Canyongold-
Truth be told, Canyongold was the slightest bit jealous, but mainly proud that he had the courage to say this in front of a small weanling he had never in his once met before. She nuzzled his neck and whispered, “Good job!”, soft enough not to embarrass him but loud enough for him to hear the pride in her voice.
Darkstone:
His ears flicked forward. He tensed as the alarm came from the southeastern area. He pinned his ears, and told his group to remain on high alert while he told the patients and medicine mares inside the cave. He approached Whiteshadow who seemed to be ,at the moment, the least busy. "Wolves were spotted in the south-east area. All guards are on high-alert but try to keep this news on the down-low. I don't want to start a panic." He mumbled to her and nuzzled her for a minute, before turning and cantering back outside to resume his position.
(Now. It's 11:28 and I want to have at least some semblance of sanity tomorrow, so I should go to bed. Good night.)
(I really should be getting to bed, since it's less than ten minutes to eleven right now, but...)
Stormglade:
"I remember one night, we had a huge fight. "How dare you leave your mother after she just died in war? Do you not love her enough to stay, and remember and continue her legacy?" Shiverdaisy screamed to me. And I screamed back just as loud, "I'm leaving so I can start a new life! I'm moving on, just as she would want me to do. You're just being weak because you can't accept the fact that your mother is dead."
I could tell that my words affected her because she paused and her wings dropped toward the ground. Shiverdaisy grunted, gave me one last hurt glance before storming into the forest.
Several hours passed, and I was becoming worried. And just as I was thinking those thoughts, a scream erupted from deep into the forest. I knew it was Shiverdaisy. I leapt into the sky and searched, a couple captains flying behind me in case I needed help. We flew for about 2 miles North before the scream erupted again, only this time it was louder. I dove towards the noise as fast as I could and I got there just in time to see a giant puma backing Shiverdaisy against a tree. She was bloodied and limping. One of her wings was broken at the base. I charged the puma, but he pushed me away from her, slicing just below my wings at the tip of my back."
Stormglade said, lifting his wing up, so Oakwind and Canyongod could see the long jagged scar run from below his withers, under his left wing, and stop before it reached his flank. He lowered his wing, covering the scar and continued. "I fell to the ground and brayed for the captains for help and they were already pounding the puma with well aimed kicks, but this puma was determined. In a blink, the puma started to wrap his teeth around Shiverdaisy, and captains raced into action, pounding the puma mercilessly. It dropped Shiverdaisy and ran away, while I ran to check on Shiverdaisy. The puma had missed her throat by only a hair, but he still bit down hard onto the crest of her neck and she was losing blood quickly. I panicked and did everything I could to help save her, but she lost too much blood.
Shiverdaisy suddenly opened her eyes and stared at me. I tried to apologize through my sobs, but she shook her head and covered my mouth with her wing, restricting me from speaking. She opened her mouth to speak, "Stormglade. I know you were just talking out of sadness and I was too. But, Stormglade, listen to me. I betrayed you-I have to leave you and join my mother. But, know this-a real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.(Water Winchell) Find that friend, Stormglade and keep her close to your heart, because she will always be with you. As will I." And with that, she was gone. I didn't get to bury her because she died a day before the migration, and they needed help preparing, so I cried my last goodbye to her, before returning to the herd."
