It's been a while since I posted the next chapter of this fanfic, hope someone likes it. Also ignore the titles, they may change, if the story is by me then then it's the same one as the last. Unless I say otherwise. :)
Morning Star sighed as a cool sea breeze brushed against her feathers and she spread her wings to fly across the foam tipped waves that lapped at the shores of Crescent Bay. The Home Trees came into view and and Morning Star banked towards the largest and landed gracefully on the platform ringing the tree before quietly entering the sheltered space inside. Dappled light fell on a floor of twisting branches and leaves rustled softly as she passed through. White Lily was snorting softly in her nest on one of the higher branches and lifted her head as Morning Star settled in the one beside her.
“How was your day?” She asked quietly. Morning Star folded in her wings and lowered herself into the downy feathers among the twigs of her nest.
“There is a new pack of wolves roaming the forests nearby and a new stock of blueberries has been added to storage.”
Lily nodded sagely and breathed into her daughters nostrils.
“Did your training help?”
“Absolutely.”
Her mother placed her wing over her head making it clear it was time to sleep. Morning Star stared out of the hole in the higher branches at the Hundred Year Star lighting their home. The tree housed only their nests and their belongings. Berries and herbs were stacked away in a dry corner and fresh and dried flowers hung amongst the branches. Their bright feathers also decorated the space and pretty things like shells and interesting stones were stored in alcoves underneath each nest. Their more precious belongings were hidden in secret rooms among the tree. Morning Star sighed contentedly as she gazed out of her tree. Weanlings were being chaperoned into their nests and foals were drafting in the wakes of their parents. The yearlings were nickering happily as their family chased them into into bed and mates were nuzzling fondly as they said good night. A white figure banked towards Morning Star’s Home Tree before landing outside. Morning Star lifted her head as her father entered the tree.
“Home a bit late, aren’t we?” She quipped. Star Frost nickered softly before replying.
“ Well you’ll be pleased to hear it’s because a patrol came and complained to me about a yearling hijacking their group.”
“They can get in line.”
Starfrost knelt and breathed through her nostrils before settling in his nest.
“I’ll talk to them in the morning.” He said before settling down to sleep, his head resting next to hers. Morning Star smiled and looked up once more at the star smoldering in the sky.
