Ravensong sunk to the ground overwhelmed by her grief. Her friends could tell that she wanted to be alone, so they flew off to tell Riverwing what had happened. After they left, Ravensong curled up into a ball and started to sob. She cried for a long time and gradually fell asleep.
A few hours later, she woke up and found herself in a big latch of white magical flowers. She laid there thinking about all that had happened.
As she was thinking, Stormwind landed at a distance and trotted over to where she was laying in the grass. "Ravensong," he said softly to het her attention.
She turned to look at him, but then she looked back in the other direction. "Go away."
"Ravensong," he said again and knelt down beside her. "I know how you feel and I-"
"What do you mean you know how I feel?" Ravensong exploded. "Both your dam and sire are still alive."
"That's not what I meant Ravensong. I-"
"Then what did you mean?" She said curtly and soared away angry. A Ravensong wanted to was think, her opportunity was ruined when her sire commanded all of the pegasi to land and gather together.
"Pegasi of Sun Herd, we are here to remember our fallen leadmare," he announced his voice wavering slightly. "Stormcloud, filly of Rainsong and Oakstripe, fly straight and find your rest."
Then unexpectedly, Icefire, the highest ranking captain in Sun Herd, stepped up next to Riverwing. "This filly is dangerous," he said extending his dark red wing edged in dark gray at Ravensong. "We have lost our leadmare because of her. She should be executed now!" There many rallying cries of agreement, and Ravensong started to tremble.
"Silence," Riverwing trumpeted. "I will have no more of this. My filly will live past her first birthday no matter what anybody does or says. Is that clear?"
The pegasi murmured in agreement and dispersed. Icefire stepped in front of still-trembling Ravensong. "Filly," he said roughly leaning in close. "I will make sure that one way or another you will not be around to inherit the power of the star. Beware." His last word was said in a joking manner as he shoved her to the ground. He smirked and flew across the meadow.
As Ravensong lay on the ground gasping for air, she wondered," Why do I feel so alone when I am surrounded by pegasi?" But in her heart, she knew the answer. It was because she was the black foal of Anok, the most feared pegasus to ever live.
