It had been half a moon since the announcement and the pegasi were all gathered around in bundles waiting to leave their homeland. Nightmist was flicking her tail impatiently and opened her wings. She then closed them and looked around. A whinny from Ripplewing told her that it was time to go. RIpplewing and Suncloud glided down from Great Ledge and landed in the front of the herd.

The leaders spoke breifly and started to trot forward the first gruop following. Nightmist ruffled her feathers in anger because she was in the last gruop. One by one the pegasi fle into the tunnel. It seemed silly to travel altogether but really it was smarter than most ideas.

Treeshade had been put into the same gruop Nightmist was in. Treeshade led the way when they were the last group standing. Nightmist trudged forward but decided to stay near the back since she was the strongest of them all in her gruop of 12 pegasi. They crept up the tunnel their bodies making black outlines in the perolous night like cave. Nightmist flicked her grey ears back and forth and flattened them as they entered the smaller tunnels where they had to travel single file because it was too small for them all to go at once.

Conversations erupted in the group as they climbed high rocks tumbling down as they left their old territory. Nightmist didn't talk to anyone and focused on the mission. Thoughts swarmed her head as they climbed higher. She had only been outside once in her lifetime to fetch something she never found. She wondered what the outside world would look like and took a deep breath.

It had been several minutes when light peeked through the damp cave and nickers of pride erupted down all of the tunnels indicating all of Star Herd had found the way outside. Nightmist sighed that they had all made it. SHe was the very last to step into the bright light of day. She nickered and winced her eyes. She heard a whinny, shifted her ears towards it, and saw Honeyroot galloping towards her. Nightmist neighed and galloped towards stopping half a winglength away and blew air into Honeyroot's nostrils and Honeyroot blew into hers.
