The Desert Herd steeds were all scavenging for food outside of their caves. Moondancer looked around the dry earthy terrain. She pricked her ears forward at the sound of nickering and snorts in the distance. She walked from her cave to the Red Rock Mountains. The mountains were a sacred place for the Desert Herd steeds. It was said that this spot was where the Desert Herd steeds ancestors lifted off the ground and rocketed into the Jet Streams.

Moondancer stepped very gingerly on the ancient rock. And in the distance she heard her best friends Icefeather, Riverflower, and Stormblaze. They were playing chase on the flat rock. Moondancer whinnied and galloped towards her friends.

" Moondancer, come play chase with us!" Whinnied Icefeather over the whistling wind.

" What are you guys doing up here?" She asked

"We are pretending we are the ancient pegasi that rocketed into Jet Streams from this very spot," Neighed Riverflower. Moondancers Dapple gray hide glistened in the sunlight. She wasn't a regular Desert Herd steed. The only difference was her coat color. She was a dapple gray with a coal black mane, a wide blaze and snip,two front socks, two hind stockings, and blue green wings tipped in orange. Her mother was a refuge from Sun Herd so thats where she gets the unique colors in Desert Herd.

" Then we better start playing!" Sqealed Stormblaze

"Ok, then i'm the over-stallion and Stormblaze is my captain and you two are mares in the Herd," nickered Icefeather as he pointed at each friend with his wing.

Moondancer tossed her head.

" When did you become the boss?" Moondancer snorted

" Since I said so," mouthed Icefeather

" Can we just play?" protested Riverflower

They all nodded there heads and began to lift off just under the trees.
