Two stallions stood on the western coast of the land of Anok. The seawater lapped at their hooves as they stared out over the waves. The cold north wind blew across the land, kicking up the fresh snow and carried it out to the cold sea.

“You don’t think that Palefrost was wrong, do you?” Asked one, a gray appaloosa with pale yellow wings fading to a pale orange. His feathered legs getting soaked from the cold sea water.

“No, I don’t.” Replied the other, a blue roan with silvery wings fading to a pale blue “I trust her with my life.”

“But a large floating island? With large wings pulling it? Sounds farfetched to me.” Said the other.

“Why else would she say what she did? To throw Sleetwing and Ashcloud into a frenzy?” He asked. “Not to mention all of Moon Herd is now terrified out of their feathers.”

“Nah, Icefire. I think she did it to gain popularity.”

“She has a lot more to lose if it were wrong though, Tigerfeather.” Icefire replied, looking at the white and gray appaloosa beside him, “She would lose respect within the Herd. No one would believe her if it turned out to be a tall tale. She scared the Herd way too much for them to be able to just forget what she said and did in a hurry.”

Tigerfeather snorted, “Maybe…but you know the Herd is more forgiving than you let on.” He said, turning his gaze out to sea.

“To the other Herds maybe, but they can carry their own grudges within the border.”

“Maybe…and I get why our Herd and Herd Leaders would want to confirm or deny Palefrost’s story but…” He looked at Icefire with a groan, “Did they have to send out multiple patrols? I just don’t understand…”

“Neither do I…” Said the roan, “It seems to me like ONE look out at sea would be enough…not a whole series of patrols. I assume their just nervous, and want to make sure the Herd is safe.”

“The report did make them more paranoid…” Said Tigerfeather looking at his hooves, “It didn’t help that our Medicine Mare warned about Landwalkers directly afterwards. It’s not like Landwalkers are able to cross the sea…all stories say they’re wingless. So, they can’t fly over the water.”

“True…but the stories also say they’re smart…maybe they found another way.”

The gray appaloosa sighed, “Maybe…and that’s all I’ll say about it, that maybe they’re smart enough to get across the big water.”

Icefire shrugged, “That’s all I’m asking.” He said, his gaze once more out to see, “All I see is water…water…and more water. Maybe we should continue farther south.” He said, spreading his wings to take flight.

“Wait a moment…” Said Tigerfeather, narrowing his eyes, “What is…what is that?” He asked, shielding his eyes from the harsh rays of the sun with his wing, “It…it looks like…”

Icefire rolled his eyes, shielding his eyes as well as he looked in the direction his friend was. On the water was a large brown…thing…with large tree trunks that went from the brown thing…and reached to the sky, and on the tops of those trunks were large white things that looked like clouds, “The large floating island…” He murmured in shock.

“Pulled by large stretched out wings…” Finished Tigerfeather.

The two friends looked at each other in shock…Palefrost…was right.

Something was coming…and…were the Herds prepared for it?
