The awaited linking chapter for The Storm's Fury! Thanks to @Iceberry and @Skypetal for suggesting it! (This is told from Storm's pegasus mare's POV)
She felt the girl on her back. Readjusting her wings so her friend was more comfortable, she stared up at the darkening sky. A sudden storm had suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Her nostrils flared at the surrounding smoke. At least the rain would smother the fire.
Storm suddenly went limp. Apparently, she had exhausted herself so much, the girl blacked out. Tempest moved her wings again so she wouldn’t fall off.
The grey mare realized, though the rain was streaming down in sheets, she was completely dry, even warm! What was happening?
As soon as this thought had entered her mind, a blast of lightning struck down on all sides of the pair. She reared, screaming, and Storm fell off, her seemingly lifeless body splayed on the ground.
The storm seemed to get worse, and lightning lit up the surrounding area in an eerie blue glow. Tempest swallowed her fear and laid down beside her friend, covering her from the rain with a navy-colored wing.
They lay there for a while, Tempest’s wing laying protectively on Storm, close to the mare’s side. She held her own for a while, ignoring the quaking sense growing in her belly. “Stay strong,” she told herself. And it worked. And then it happened.
A mighty quake of thunder made her jump, but the warmth became a heated orb that expanded around them. An abnormally large lightning bolt shook the protective shield, raising it up in the air. The blue bolt concentrated heavily on the stormy grey circle.
Tempest’s body dissolved away in a flurry of raindrops. She noticed Storm’s did the same. All that remained was their silvery transparent image that appeared to be their souls. All at once, they were thrown together in a blur, a mass of swirling smoke that danced around the edges of their barrier.
Finally, after a seemingly endless amount of time, Tempest had disappeared. In her place stood a towering figure with black-tipped navy feathers. Her blue mane was streaked with white, and her soft grey fur seemed to sparkle with gold. The most impressive was the gold horn that protruded from the center of her forehead.
The newly formed alicorn lay curled in the center of the storm. When she awoke, she would find her new life to be condemned to wander in her bitter emotions spreading windy and wet weather around the world.
As for Tempest, her soul was manifested in the area that protected Storm Cloud-runner. Her purpose was to watch over her. Her spirit was the only thing that connected Storm to reality, from slipping away into the cold realm. Tempest needed someone to help save Storm, but could Storm be saved?
Tomorrow, some of the hints in this will make sense, as I will be posting the next chapter! :)
Great job!
Can I get a description of Storm and one of Tempest?
Cool! Good job @Lightray !
