The New Herds

MoonWing looked back at all the steeds that had chosen to follow him. The old herd, EarthQuake Herd just had a war because some of the pegasi wanted to split into a new herd.They came to a stop when his mate Lightsun now lightcloud leadmare of their new herd flew between the fighting pegasi and yelled ̈ ̈Stop! We can talk about this.¨ All the pegasi dropped from the sky and landed in a circle around her and their Overstallion SpotWing. They all talked and agreed on splitting into different herds and that anyone could follow whoever they wanted the Overstallion to be for a new herd. Most of the pegasi circled around Moonblaze and bowed saying ¨We want you to be our Overstallion.¨ And that was it the other pegasi circled around 4 other stallions and did the same thing. And now here he was Overstallion of a new herd.

LakeHerd

The new herd flew swiftly through the sky looking for a place to settle and make it their territory. But first they needed to name their herd. MoonWing flew down to the ground and the others followed he walked right over to to his mate LightCloud and said ¨We need a name for our new herd.¨ She looked up and said ¨Yes, I have been thinking of one, how about LakeHerd.¨ He stood there and thought about it for a while and nodded. He went into the middle of the herd and trumpeted the meeting call. The pegasi gathered around to listen ¨Our new herd is now going to be called LakeHerd.¨ All the pegasi nodded in appreciation and approvement¨We also need a place to stay and call our own.¨ A Golden palomino with light blue feathers stood up straight and said¨My name is SummerWind and I know a place we can stay it is almost the best territory here it has lush, green grass and perfect weather. ̈ MoonWing nodded and said ¨ Thankyou SummerWind can you lead us there in the morning? We will claim it unless some other herd has already claimed it.¨ SummerWind nodded and flew over to a brown mare with dark green feathers He nuzzled her and they snuggled together and closed their eyes to rest of LakeHerd went and settled down for the night. Everything was turning out good so far. MoonWing trotted over to LightCloud and they snuggled together and closed their eyes. As he fell asleep he thought about everything that had happened. It will be okay he thought we will soon be home.

New Territory

MoonWing woke up early the next morning he got up and went straight to SummerWind. “SummerWind, wake up.” he said SummerWind slowly opened his eyes “Yes?” he asked getting up “We need to wake up the rest of LakeHerd. And I need you to show me the way to the territory I need to know how long it will take to get there.” MoonWing said heading toward LightCloud to wake her up. Then he woke up the rest of LakeHerd by yelling “Everybody up we have a long way to go and we need to get started before another herd claims the territory.” The rest of the herd got up and started grazing to get their energy up and before they went. SummerWind got up and headed toward MoonWing he said “The territory is over west and it will take about half the day getting there if we leave now.”MoonWing walked over to the middle of the herd and lifted off looking back to make sure that the rest of his herd was following him.
