So these are the first two chapters smashed together because somehow I did it… XDD enjoy this. Some stuff is different because I felt it added more depth to her character, but I hope you love her as much as I do.
Chapter 1
A tiny filly slowly opened her amber eyes, and swished her curly tail. She saw a beautiful mare panted in pain, her eyes broken yet kind as she nuzzled her filly. A yearling colt stood nearby, and smiled brightly. “Mommy she’s perfect!” He nickered. The filly shifted, and her stomach killed to the side of her mouth. Her soft dappled pelt was warm, and it glowed in the sun. “M-mama!” She whinnied happily.
Soon a large gruff stallion trotted into the cave, his wings a dark crimson. It took her a moment to realize it smelled tangy… but she didn’t know what it was.
The colt shifted closer to his dam, and whinnied quietly. The stallion flared his wings, sending wet droplet over the small foals faces. “Come now… who is my new baby boy?!” The stallion snorted with pride.
The filly’s dam swallowed. “Girl. S-she’s a girl, StormSky.” The mare looked so scared… and the colt saw this too. He gently used his beautiful fluffy crimson and dark Gray wings to scoop up the filly and take her to a separate cave so she didn’t have to hear the crying and the screaming. He curled up around her, and sighed. “You’re special, you know that?“ the colt’s voice was soft, and gentle. He smelled like… rain and sand. The colt smiled at her, and put his wing over her back. “Mama named me RainBreeze. I take it you don’t have a name yet do you?” The filly looked up at him with soft Amber eyes. RainBreeze giggled. “I guess you don’t.” He shot his head up and hid closer to a stalagmite, his wing curled tightly around his little sister’s stomach as the sound of crashing and thundering and angry yelling and screams filled their ears.
RainBreeze sighed softly, and nuzzled her between the ears. “Dad wanted another son so he could train them like war zombies.” He said softly. “But you’ll show him. You’ll be kind, yet strong. You’ll show everyone nobody can mess with my little sister. You’re the powerful RainShade.”
Chapter 2
Later that night, RainBreeze fell asleep protecting his tiny newborn sister. RainShade was happy for his warmth and comfort, and his voice sounded like a calm storm… but she was starving. She shakily got up, and began to shakily trot out of the cave, worried the older stallion would be there. “Mama?” She bleated quietly. “Mama hunger?”
RainShade thought she had found something, until she stepped in a puddle of warm red liquid. She blinked her soft Amber eyes and stared down at it. She lifted her tiny hoof, and looked at it as it painted the hard ground red. There were feathers and sign of a scuffle, yet the stallion nor the mare was there. She turned back to the cave she had came out of, and began to panic. She bleated, and cried. “RainBreeze! RainBreeze!“ she learned the hard way that her mom wasn’t here, and her brother was the only name she knew.
A low growl came from behind her, and a large brown she-wolf stalked towards the tiny filly, barring fangs of pearls. RainShade backed away, and panicked.
The she-wolf snarled and lunged as the filly squealed. A large crack of lightning smashed into the wolf, which sent her staggering back, hissing and snapping. A beautiful young colt had come to her rescue… he was sparked with accents of neon blue. He rattled his sparkling feathers, and trumpeted a warning call. But the wolf wasn’t about to back down from an easy meal. She licked her chops, and howled for her pack.
To a tiny filly like RainShade, there seemed to be hundreds, thousands! To the colt, he knew better. He dug his hoof in the dirt, and immediately took on two. He reared, clubbing one so that the skull split, he slashed at another, thick red ooze coming from it’s neck.
With the colt busy, the she wolf and the other two, circled the filly, batting at her playfully. The barred the pearly white teeth, and one snapped at her flank. The filly whinnied in surprise and fear, but she was stuck. A large heavy crack snapped at one of the three wolves surrounding RainShade, and the colt came back to her, helping her win this fight. But soon he too was outnumbered.
“Enough!” A voice trumpeted. The stallion brought down the final three wolves as he set down. His pelt glistened in the moon of a chestnut leopard appaloosa, and he shook out his mane. “You idiots were supposed to stay inside! Where is your mother?!”
The colt trembled, and the neon blue streaks glitched away. It was RainBreeze… his blanket pelt shaking, his wings quivered softly. “F-Father, mother isn’t-“
The stallion turned in a circle, and reared, his trumpet full of anger and hatred. “You filthy horses! You lost her! I knew she had NO RIGHT to keep you!”
RainShade bleated and hid behind RainBreeze, as he tried to be brave. But no wolf pack was as scary as their sire. “Father it wasn’t—“
The stallion snorted. “Quiet you! we are leaving at dawn. We’ll go to the rebels, and see if she survives.”
RainBreeze stamped his hoof down. “So that’s it?! You just ignore mama’a last child?! Look at her! She’s barely out of the womb, she can’t fly in her conditions! She’s starving, and it’ll only get worse.”
RainShade was trembling softly, and the stallion looked them up and down. “I learned something quite valuable from a fire herd steed a killed…“ he hissed in their ears. “To fall is to die…”
