Far, far away from Summer Herd lived Winter Herd, and a black foal by the name of Thunderfrost has just been born.
The mother wasn’t lucky, she died seconds after her son’s birth. The over-stallion, Winterwing, abandoned his foal, so Thunderfrost was living alone in the Vein. Thunderfrost galloped toward where he thought his herd was, but really, he was going toward Summercloud. Summercloud, who was letting her filly nurse, raised her head. She saw a solid black steed. “Who are you?” she neighed to him.
“I’m Thunderfrost, I didn’t know I was here.”
“Thunderfrost, hmm?”
“Yes, ma’am,”
“You’re a very polite colt. Which herd are you from?”
“I-I’m from Winter Herd, ma’am,”
“Do you have any parents?”
“N-no ma’am, my sire abandoned me because my mother…passed to the...Golden Meadow…”
Summercloud beckoned the young black colt over to her. “I swear on my life to protect you both, even if you are destroyers,” she said. Thunderfrost snuggled closer to Summercloud, and the golden-colored mare draped her wings around the foals, keeping them warm.
It’s sweet that Summercloud decided to take him in! I wonder if anyone from Winter Herd will search for Thunderfrost.
