Star cantered across the grass to the copse of trees where his mate was giving birth. He poked his head inside and smiled. Two foals were nursing at his mate's side. One was chestnut, and the other was bay. Both had large stars and gold eyes. The bay's wings were midnight blue at the mantle fading all the way to white at the ends. The chestnut's feathers were mint green.

"They're beautiful, Flamesky," Star whispered to his mate. "What are they called?"

Flamesky looked back at Star. "I don't know yet, but I think Bramblewind for the bay colt."

Star nodded. "What about Echoleaf for the filly?" He looked down at his foals with great pride in his eyes.

Flamesky smiled. "Yes, that's a good name." Brackentail and Morningleaf showed up with their own foal, Thunderlake, in tow and for a moment there was nothing but peace and tranquility. Then it was broken.

"Starwing! Starwing!" A small two-year-old skidded to a halt next to him. "The pegasi of the Silver Forest are on the move!"
