Star flew low and fast over the tree tops, his patrol following close behind. Only a few months had passed since the battle with Nightwing, and Star was still adjusting to not having his starfire.
"Can we rest for a few minuet?" said Shadepebble, from some where behind Star. He had forgotten that the spotted mare still had difficulties flying, and the patrol had been flying for hours.
"Good idea." said Star, "I see a clearing up ahead, we can land there for a wile."
A few minuets later the patrol was resting beside the creek that ran through the center of the clearing. "This is nice." said Shadepebble, as she rolled in the grass.
Star was about to do the same when he spotted a light purple feather on the far side of the clearing. He trotted over to investigate. None of the pegasi in the patrol had purple feathers. Star sniffed it, this feather was diffidently not a feather that belonged to a River Herd steed. But then who's was it?
"Hay Shadepebble, take a look at this." called Star.
Shadepebble trotted over, "What is it?". Star pointed at the feather, and Shadepebble bent down to smell it. "I wonder who's feather this is."
With the help of the rest of the patrol Star and Shadepebble searched the clearing, but could find no other traces of another Pegasus. Until a mare named Clawberry spotted hoof prints. The patrol quickly followed them, but they lost the hoof prints only a few winglengths away.
"Split up." ordered Star, "Those tracks were still fresh, so the Pegasus couldn't have gotten far."
After only a few minuets of searching, Star spotted another purple feather, this one at the base of a tree. He signaled the rest of the patrol to be on guard, then he kicked off and flew up towards the top of the tree.
Before Star got very high, he heard a squeal of a startled filly. "I'll come down!" she squeaked, "Just don't hurt me!"
"We promise not to hurt you." said Star, he landed, and a few seconds later he was joined by a palomino filly who's wings were the same color as the feathers Star had found.
Clawberry gasped, "Autumnhoney!" The pinto mare ran to the filly.
The whole patrol stared, "Do you know each other?" asked Star.
"Yes, Autumnhoney is my sister." said Clawberry. "We were separated when Nightwing came. I thought she was dead!"
Star smiled as he watched the happy reunion between the sisters, and smiled. Happy to have helped bring them together.
