Screams filled the air as ashes floated around, and out of the ashes rose a black pegasus, rearing up, a jagged white scar across his eye. He spewed silver fire at the pegasus scattering around, turning them into ashes, "I AM NIGHTWING! YOU WILL BOW TO ME!" he roared
A chesnut mare with aqua wings walked up to him, "Thundernight, please! calm down!"
The stallion glared at the mare, his mother, "BOW TO ME!"
Morningleaf reared up, defiant, she wouldn't bow to a tyrant! Not even her son! "Never!"
In one puff of silver smoke, she was gone, turned into a pile of ashes that foated through the air, the herd shrieked, many mares fainted.
"BOW!!!!"
And the herd did, all bowing, cowering in fear....
All but one young mare, staring at 'Nightwing'. Stories about the colt's uncle, Nightwing had always been his favorite when they were foals, and it would make sense for him to want to be like him, "Oh Thundernight... why did you have to do this?" she whispered, before darting off into the woods...
But it wasn't always like this, once apon a time, Thundernight had been a sweet caring foal, the son of Star and Morningleaf.....
Two years earlier
Morningleaf and Griffenrose both went into labor on the same night, and Sweetroot was struggling to not get overwhelmed when she had to care for both of them at the same time, it was double the herbs, double the care, double the anxious stallions, and double the foals.
Morningleaf smiled at Griffenrose, "Hello, how are you?" she asked, in between contractions, her face pained.
"Not too bad. It's a pleasure to meet you, Morningcloud," Griffenrose paced, trying to ignore the contractions. As time passed it grew impossible, and she settled down next to Morningleaf, to wait.
Morningleaf's foal was born first, and everyone gasped when they saw him. He was coal black like his father, but his wings were different. The tops of his wings were black but the underside was red, oranage and yellow, the apperence caused them to look like his wings were on fire. He had a sharp white jagged marking, like a lightning bolt across his eye.
Next came Griffenrose's foal, a girl, she was small, gray and white, with teeny tiny mint colored wings.
Sweetroot hated to break the news, that the foal was a dud.
Star trotted into the cave, hurrying over to his mate, and gently nuzzling the foal, "We need to name it."
Morningleaf thought hard, and suggested, "Thundernight?"
Star nodded, "And we can call him Thunder, or Night," he settled down with his mate and foal, watching over them as they rested, protective love filling him, his little family....
Maplestrike trotted over to Griffenrose, he smiled at her, but frowned when he saw the foal's wings, "She cant be our daughter if she's a dud! Give her to the walkers. We'll try again."
Griffenrose bit her lip and nodded, "Perhaps, if we can find a nursemare."
The stallin huffed and walked back out, furious. He didnt want a dud, he wanted a foal he could raise to be a captain, a job he had always wanted, but never recieved. He couldn't do that with a female dud.
Griffenrose sighed, "Why couldn't you have been a boy? He would have wanted to keep you if you had been a boy, even if you were a dud..." she whispered as she closed her eyes for a nap
(Hope you like it! It's the one you guys voted for!)
Here’s a rough sketch of Thundernight
Wow!! And wow...he killed Morningleaf. And yet I still kind of like him...
Ohhh! Nice! Dang though, BAD THUNDERNIGHT. BAD BOY. Yeesh.
Also... a sexist dude. Wow. Totally haven't heard of one of those before. Great story!
(Also, I'm not being rude about the sexist part, I've just been getting more and more fed up about people being sexist, especially when they're men. So, NOT a fan of Maplestrike lol)
This looks great so far!
OOOOOOOH!!! I LOVE THIS SO FAR!! I'm excited to see why little Thundernight turned EEEEEEVIL!
I like it so far! It will be interesting to see if Thundernight has a closer connection to the protagonist, since they were born nearly at the same time!
