I just finished this last night. Honestly I think it looks great because I just started, but I know I can do much better. If anyone has any tips on drawing realistic looking humans, please give them to me!!!
Ok this is the original picture:
And this is my attempt:
It does kind of look like Preston. I think me messing up on his smile made it so it doesn't look as much like him as I'd hoped it would.
Anyway, just for some dessert, I'll show you guys the digital version I did of this, even though I already showed you it a while ago. But I'm proud of it so...
Seriously, someone on Instagram got mad at me and said I just put a filter on the photo and posted that. (I didn't btw, this took me days to complete.) So I guess it was that good. 😋
(the "unspeakableapproved" is my Instagram fan account. Pay no attention to that.)
What do you guys think?

Human drawing tips I use on the daily to the point where they are habit...
Tips:
I know a face has facial features...a nose, mouth, eyes, ears, etc... BUT FORGET ALL ABOUT THAT!!! instead of thinking of it as what they are,(Nose mouth eyes) Think about it as shapes. Oval, almond, triangle, circle, square, lines, and any other shape you can think of. I know it sounds funny, but My art change a lot, for the better when I started doing that.
Don't worry too much about the two eyes being identical. Most people don't have eyes that are exactly the same, meaning that when drawing in a more realistic style, your inability to draw identical eyes is going to benefit you, giving you a more unique and realistic finished product.
Focus on the shadows, but don't go crazy...What does that mean. Well, it means that adding your shading slowly, is helpful. Start with the general shapes, and that darken them slowly, adjusting where adjustments are needed and forgetting about areas that the shadow isn't needed.
be ready to make mistakes, but don't plan for them but try to learn from them. Man this is probably one of the hardest ones here...It actually applies to more then just art. We are going to make mistakes...we just will. In Art, life, backing, cooking, sports, ect. but we have a choice to make, and this can be really hard...we can either forgive ourselves, and that silly line that was out of place, or we can let it ruin our whole picture...If you ruin, or mess up a piece, don't stop, tare out the page, and start over, Keep going. If nothing else, it is practice, and practice makes perfect(but who's perfect?)
I've got more, but I'll post this now...
